Wassily Wassilyevich Kandinsky, a Russian painter and art theorist, is widely recognized as the pioneer of abstract art. Born in Moscow, he spent his childhood in Odesa (now part of Ukraine), where he graduated from the Grekov Odesa Art School. Kandinsky pursued higher education at the University of Moscow, studying law and economics. He was highly successful in his legal career and was even offered a professorship in Roman Law at the University of Dorpat (now Tartu, Estonia). At 30, Kandinsky shifted his focus to painting, studying life drawing, sketching, and anatomy.
