Robert Delaunay, a French artist, co-founded the Orphism art movement alongside his wife Sonia Delaunay and others, distinguished by its bold use of colours and geometric forms. Born on April 12, 1885, in Paris, Robert pursued an apprenticeship in theatre set design in Belleville after completing his secondary education in 1902. He began painting in 1903 and by 1904 was already exhibiting his work. His paintings were showcased at the Salon d’Automne in 1904 and 1906, and from 1904 until World War I, his work was regularly featured at the Salon des Indépendants.
