Hilma af Klint, a Swedish artist and mystic, is recognized for creating the first known Western abstract art. She was a member of "The Five," a group of women influenced by Theosophy who sought to communicate with the "High Masters" through séances. Her paintings, often resembling diagrams, visually represent complex spiritual concepts.
